The first thing anyone reading this needs to know about me is that I am a blessed man, not a self-made man. God has been very good to me in my short life. He has given me many opportunities and I have done my best to be faithful to the calling he has placed on my life.
I met Christ on January 9, 1998 at the First Baptist Church of Russellville, AR and felt the call to ministry later that same year. In the years since, God has provided an education for me through William’s Baptist College and Baylor University. He blessed me further by allowing me to serve in several wonderful churches over the years while completing my studies.
On October 9, 2012 I walked into a Starbucks in Woodway, TX and met the love of my life, Camilla Slacum. We fell in love and were married on November 9, 2013. Since then, we have lived simply and happily with our two dogs, Bruin and Lady Bear. In May of 2018 we received an even greater blessing in the birth of our first daughter, Lillie Mae, and we were blessed again in June of 2020 when God brought our second daughter, Evelyn Rose, into the world. They are loved by the entire Golinda Baptist Church family.
In the years to come, Camilla and I look forward to seeing our family grow as God ordains it. We will continue living simply and building on the foundation of love upon which our home resides. I would also enjoy the opportunity to teach other young men and women beginning their journey in the ministry. Specifically, I would like to instruct them on how to do the basics of ministry- maintain a rich spiritual life, practice good nutrition and exercise, preside over meetings, administer the ordinances of the church, and conduct services for their congregations, among other things. I don’t know if or when this might happen, but I am excited by the prospect.
God has been very good to my family and I believe blessings are meant to be passed on to others. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and I hope I get the chance to return the favor. Perhaps over coffee…
